Harford County Family Overwhelmed by Outpouring of Support Amidst Tragedy
A family in Harford County is facing an incredible amount of tragedy, as the father recently passed away from cancer and the mother is currently in the hospital with an aneurysm. However, the community has come together to support them, raising over $50,000 through a GoFundMe campaign.
Guy Santoro, the father, was known as a loving husband, father, and beloved softball coach. He was described as humble and giving, always putting his family and community first.
Just before Thanksgiving, Guy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, on December 10, he passed away. During his viewing, his wife Holly was rushed to the hospital due to an aneurysm.
The family is taking things day by day, dealing with the ongoing challenges and taking any news about Holly's condition slowly. Despite the difficulties they are facing, the community has rallied behind them.
A GoFundMe campaign was created and has already exceeded its $50,000 goal. With more than 600 donations, ranging from $5 to $1,000, the outpouring of support has been immense.
The Brookside Market, owned by Guy's cousin Casey Brooks, has been promoting the GoFundMe on social media and the business has been matching donations with gift cards. They hope to continue raising awareness and support for the family during this difficult time.
The money donated to the GoFundMe will be used to assist the family as they navigate through the challenges ahead. The community's generosity has made a significant impact on the family, especially during the holiday season.
The family is grateful for the support they have received and are hopeful that the funds raised will help provide a brighter future for Guy's two daughters.
It’s National Crossword Puzzle Day!
Did you know that the first crossword puzzle was created by Arthur Wynne and published on December 21, 1913 in the New York World Newspaper?
Wynne’s puzzle was diamond shaped and contained no internal black squares. However, it was so popular with readers that within a decade crossword puzzles were featured in almost all American newspapers.
We all know a crossword lover; some even get the newspaper for the sole purpose of doing the crossword. So on December 21 let’s celebrate National Crossword Puzzle Day the best way we know how … find one you like and start filling in those squares!
