Support Veterans and Their Families by Volunteering with Wreaths Across America in Harford County

Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization that aims to remember, honor, and teach about the sacrifices made by veterans. The organization was founded in 2007 by the Worcester family, who had been donating surplus wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery since 1992. The annual wreath-laying event has since grown into a nationwide movement, with ceremonies taking place across the country.

In addition to honoring fallen heroes at Arlington, Wreaths Across America has expanded its efforts to include over 24 overseas cemeteries and 3,702 participating locations in the United States. The organization achieved a milestone in 2014 by successfully placing a wreath on every grave marker. This accomplishment was made possible through the support of thousands of sponsorship groups, corporate contributions, and in-kind donations from the transportation industry.

Wreaths Across America is not only dedicated to honoring veterans but also to teaching younger generations about the value of freedom and the importance of honoring those who have served. The organization launched the TEACH program in 2022, which provides lesson plans and service projects for young people of all ages. By engaging in these activities, children learn about the sacrifices made by veterans and the significance of remembering and honoring their service.

If you want to get involved and support Wreaths Across America this year, you can volunteer this Saturday, December 16,2023 with the local groups in Bel Air and White Hall.  Check out the Events List for the links to the group closest to you!

Tragic Pedestrian Fatality in Bel Air Sparks Investigation
