Preliminary Investigation Reveals Unsafe Lane Change Led to Harford County Crash
A preliminary investigation conducted by Maryland State Police has determined that the driver of a white 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was responsible for the multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 95 in Harford County on Thanksgiving Day. According to a state police spokesperson, the driver made an unsafe lane change which led to the collision involving 10 vehicles, including a tractor-trailer with a car carrier.
The driver, is now facing multiple traffic citations which include negligent driving of a vehicle and displaying expired registration tags, according to court records. Although investigators have ruled out impairment as a factor, they have determined that speeding played a role in the crash.
The Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association reported that at least 20 people were examined for injuries at the scene, with two individuals being transported to nearby hospitals in stable condition. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as a result of the crash, as confirmed by state police.
The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, Abingdon Fire Company, and Harford County Department of Emergency Services' emergency medical services team promptly responded to the scene to provide assistance and support, according to a spokesperson for the association.
The crash resulted in the temporary closure of three northbound left lanes of the highway for approximately three hours, causing significant traffic delays on the busy travel holiday. Thankfully, the lanes were reopened to traffic by 4:30 p.m.
Happy National Mason Jar Day!
Mason jars have been popular for decades. They were originally invented with a patented screw top that allowed people to safely can and pickle fruits and vegetables grown in the garden. Today, we also use them for drinking glasses, vases, and even candle holders!
4 Clever Things You Can Do With Mason Jars
Make a cupcake in a jarโ
Many people bake cakes and stack them inside a mason jar with icing and sprinkles โ similar to a layered parfait.โ
Hang your spice rack
Fill small mason jars with your favorite spices, seal them tight, and then hang them sideways on a magnetic board in your kitchen for cute and handy storage.
โMake a soap dispenser
Carefully cut a hole in the lid of a mason jar, fill it with soap, and insert your favorite soap dispenser top.
โShake up your drink
Instead of using a typical martini shaker, try cooling down your next drink by shaking it in a mason jar.โ
