Family Using Fireplace for Heat Narrowly Escapes Fallston Blaze
A house fire in the Fallston area has displaced two adults and four children. The fire broke out on Friday evening, November 24, in the 1600-block of Watervale Road.
When the fire crew arrived at the scene, they observed smoke coming from the roof and two floors of the house. The homeowner informed them that their father-in-law was still inside, trying to put out the blaze with a garden hose.
Firefighters acted swiftly and rescued the family member, who was then evaluated by medical professionals. The firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, which had been caused by a cracked flue pipe/duct from the fireplace that the homeowners had been using to heat the home.
The blaze caused an estimated $200,000 in damages to the home. The displaced family members are now receiving assistance from their relatives.
