Teen's Claim of Drive-By Shooting Proven False as Investigation Reveals Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

A 16-year-old boy in Edgewood, Harford County, initially reported to the authorities that he had been targeted in a drive-by shooting. However, investigations later revealed that the incident was a result of the teen accidentally shooting himself.

The boy suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound to his thigh and received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to a local trauma center. Detectives found evidence at a nearby home, including a bullet casing and live round, indicating that the teen was the only victim and shooter.

The source of the weapon remains unknown, and the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Smith with the Harford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 410-638-4007.

FAA Investigates Drone Activity near Baltimore Ravens Game

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting an investigation into the presence of a drone near M&T Bank Stadium during Thursday’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The game had to briefly pause due to the drone's presence. Maryland State Police, along with security officers from the Maryland Stadium Authority, located the drone pilot and instructed them to land the drone. The pilot revealed that they were unaware of flight restrictions and did not possess a waiver to operate near the stadium during the game.

The state police shared information with the FAA to aid in their investigation. The Maryland Stadium Authority had previously installed drone detection and deterrence technology at the stadium complex in anticipation of the 2021 sports season.

The FAA has stringent rules regarding drone activity during major sporting events, with a ban on flying within 3 miles of a stadium for one hour before and after games. This ban encompasses NFL and college football, Major League Baseball, NASCAR, and Indy car racing.
