Ravens over the Bengals in Thursday Night Football Game!
Thursday Night Football Recap
Ravens Beat Bengals as Injuries Plague Both Teams
In the Thursday night game this week, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 34-20.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw two touchdown passes, one of which was aided by a fortunate bounce off a defender. However, the game was marred by injuries to key players on both teams. Joe Burrow, the Bengals' quarterback, left the game in the second quarter with a wrist injury and did not return.
Additionally, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews is expected to miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. The Ravens now hold a 2 1/2 game lead over the Bengals in the AFC North division.
Baltimore Orioles' Brandon Hyde Named Best Manager in the American League
Brandon Hyde, the manager of the Baltimore Orioles, has been named the American League Manager of the Year for the 2023 season. This recognition comes after leading the Orioles to an impressive 101 wins and clinching the AL East division title. Despite finishing second in the previous year's voting, Hyde has now solidified his position as one of baseball's top managers.
Since his appointment as the Orioles' manager in 2019, Hyde has maintained a record of 315-393 over five seasons. While the team experienced a few challenging years, Hyde's leadership resulted in a remarkable turnaround in 2022. The Orioles finished with an 83-79 record, marking a significant 31-game improvement from the previous season.
However, it was in 2023 that everything clicked for Hyde and the Orioles. They achieved an outstanding 101-61 record, further surpassing their previous performance by 18 wins. Not only did they secure the best record in the American League, but they also claimed the AL East division title for the first time since 2014. Although their playoff run ended in disappointment with a sweep in the ALDS, their achievements were remarkable.
