Forest Hill Community Meal and Turkey Giveaway: A Festive Event You Don't Want to Miss

Peace Healthcare in Forest Hill is hosting its annual fall harvest community meal and turkey giveaway today. This event aims to provide hot meals and essential food items to residents in need, while also raising awareness about Peace Healthcare's substance abuse treatment and mental health services.

From 1-3 p.m., community members are invited to enjoy a warm and delicious meal. The menu will feature a variety of traditional Thanksgiving dishes, offering a taste of the upcoming holiday. It will be a great opportunity for individuals and families to come together, share a meal, and enjoy the sense of community.

Following the meal, from 3-5 p.m. or until supplies last, residents will have the chance to pick up a frozen turkey and other food items to prepare their own Thanksgiving Day feast. This giveaway is aimed at ensuring that everyone in the community has access to a nutritious meal during this special time of year.

In addition to the food distribution, Peace Healthcare will be providing information about their substance abuse treatment and mental health services. This gives community members the opportunity to learn about the resources available to those struggling with addiction or in need of mental health support.

The event will take place at Peace Healthcare located at 501 Granary Road. For more information, please call 410-779-9175.

Harford Memorial Hospital to Close on February 6

Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland is set to close its doors on February 6, according to UM Upper Chesapeake Health CEO, Elizabeth Wise. In its place, a medical center in Aberdeen will open on the same day, alongside a new pavilion at the UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Both facilities will have a combined capacity of 72 beds, matching that of Harford Memorial Hospital.

UM Upper Chesapeake Health has been preparing for the closure of Harford Memorial Hospital for several years. Previously, it was announced that the hospital would close by spring 2024, but this is the first time an official date has been given. Harford Memorial is one of only two hospitals in Harford County and provides care to residents in the northern part of the county, as well as neighboring areas in Cecil County across the Susquehanna River.

The hospital plays a vital role as the designated treatment center for victims of sexual abuse and serves as the primary stroke center for the county. With its closure, UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center will become the sole full-service hospital in Harford County.

Highlighting Key Topics for Fraud Awareness Week

Welcome to Fraud Awareness Week, an important initiative to educate and empower individuals on the ever-increasing threat of fraud. This week we will be sharing tips and actionable information to help protect you and your family from the ever evolving fraud tactics!

Today Topics: Cybersecurity & Phone Scams

Cybersecurity:
Cybersecurity includes safeguarding your digital presence. Use strong, unique passwords for each of your online accounts, enable two-factor authentication when available, and regularly update your devices and software with the latest security patches.

Be cautious while downloading attachments, clicking links, or opening emails from unknown sources, as they may contain malware or lead to phishing attempts.

Phone Scams:
Phone scams involve fraudsters posing as bank representatives, government officials, or other trusted entities to deceive individuals into providing personal information or making fraudulent payments.

Remember, legitimate institutions will never ask for sensitive information over the phone. Be skeptical of unsolicited calls, and if in doubt, hang up and call the official number of the organization directly to verify the call's legitimacy.

Fraud Awareness Week is a critical time for enhancing your awareness and taking appropriate measures to protect yourself from fraudulent activities. By equipping yourself with knowledge and being cautious, you can greatly reduce the risk of falling victim to fraudsters. Stay safe and informed!

Home Crowd and Prime Time Setting Provide Extra Motivation for Ravens Against Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for a Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering a heartbreaking loss to the Cleveland Browns. The loss marked the team's third game this season in which they had a lead going into the final quarter and ended up losing.

The Ravens are determined to bounce back and avenge their defeat in front of their home crowd at M&T Bank Stadium. Quarterback Lamar Jackson is confident in his abilities and his coach, John Harbaugh, expressed unwavering support for him.

The Bengals, who have won the past two AFC North titles, present a formidable opponent for the Ravens. However, with the energizing atmosphere of a prime time game and the support of their fans, the Ravens are hopeful for a bounce-back victory.
