Senators and Delegates Gather at Nation's Oldest Proving Ground for Veterans Caucus Meeting
Members of the largest veterans caucus in the nation recently gathered at the headquarters of the U.S. Army’s premier Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command in Maryland. The group, consisting of senators, delegates, and staff members from the Maryland House and Senate, met with veterans and military retirees at the 20th CBRNE Command Headquarters. The group discussed various legislative initiatives aimed at improving the lives of veterans and military retirees in Maryland.
The meeting took place at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, the nation’s oldest continuously operating proving ground. The 20th CBRNE Command is a unique command in the U.S. military, housing a large number of CBRN specialists, EOD technicians, and various other teams responsible for dealing with hazardous materials.
Overall, the meeting provided an opportunity for members of the Veterans Caucus to learn about the veterans’ initiatives in Maryland, ranging from tax issues to education equivalency standards. The caucus collaborates closely with the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs to develop and promote legislation intended to enhance the quality of life for veterans in the state.

Justice Served: Thief Responsible for $223,000 Fraud Scheme Receives His Sentence
Kenneth Wayne Collins III, a resident of Parkville, Maryland, has been sentenced to 15 years' incarceration, with four years suspended, for his involvement in a theft scheme valued at over $100,000.
Collins, who was employed at a car dealership in Bel Air, used his position as a service technician to file more than 260 fraudulent claims for fake mechanical repairs.
He pocketed over $223,000 in connection with the scheme, which lasted from January 2018 to May 2019. Collins will also be on supervised probation for five years and has been ordered to pay $223,768 in restitution to the victims.
In a separate case, Collins pleaded guilty to insurance fraud in 2019 in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City and was granted probation before judgment. He was ordered to pay $10,272 in restitution, some of which was paid with the money he obtained through the theft scheme in Harford County.
