Volunteer Firefighters Assist in Extinguishing Gunpowder Falls Fire
A forest fire broke out in Gunpowder Falls State Park near the Harford County line, covering approximately one acre. The fire started in the area of the Little Gunpowder River between Harford Road and Belair Road on the Baltimore County side.
Firefighters faced challenges due to the windy conditions and requested additional resources including fire department ATVs, a helicopter with a bambi bucket, and a drone for aerial support.
Thankfully, by early afternoon, most of the fire had been extinguished, with a small fire near Belair Road quickly contained. Volunteer firefighters from multiple departments provided assistance in battling the blaze.
Get Your Pets Vaccinated at the Humane Society's Public Clinic
The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) is hosting a public pet vaccination clinic on today at the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct in Edgewood, MD.
The clinic will offer a range of vaccines for dogs, cats, and ferrets, including distemper, Bordetella, and rabies. Each vaccine will cost $10, and microchips can also be implanted and registered for $25. No appointments are necessary, and services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Animals must be at least 4 months old to receive vaccinations, and dogs must be on a non-retractable leash with a properly fitted collar, while cats and ferrets must be safely contained in carriers. For more information, please visit HarfordShelter.org.

Aberdeen Municipal Election 2023
The upcoming municipal election, scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Aberdeen Activity Center, will determine the individuals who will hold the positions of Mayor and four Council seats.
The Mayor's term will span four years, while Council members will be elected to staggered terms starting from this election. Depending on the number of votes received, the top two Council candidates will secure four-year terms, while the remaining candidates will be elected for a two-year term.
In the subsequent election in November 2025, the two Council candidates with the highest votes will again serve four-year terms.
Bel Air Municipal Election 2023
The Town of Bel Air in Maryland will hold an election on November 7, 2023, for three seats on the Board of Commissioners.
The voting hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the voting location is set to be the Bel Air Town Hall at 39 N. Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014.
This election will shape the leadership and decision-making for the town, making it an important event for local residents and stakeholders.

Henderson Shines in His Rookie Season with the Orioles
Baltimore Orioles rookie shortstop, Gunnar Henderson, has been named the MLBPA AL Outstanding Rookie, as the MLB offseason begins after the Texas Rangers' World Series victory. Unlike the AL Rookie of the Year award, which is voted on by the media, the MLBPA Outstanding Rookie is chosen by MLB players. This award has closely aligned with the BBWAA Rookie of the Year throughout its history.
Henderson had an impressive season, with a .255 batting average and 28 home runs. He also recorded 29 doubles and stole 10 bases. What set him apart was his 4.6 WAR, the highest among all AL rookies. Oakland's Zack Gelof followed with a distant second place, earning a 2.9 WAR.
If Henderson wins the prestigious BBWAA AL Rookie of the Year award, he will become the seventh Oriole to achieve this honor and the first since 1989. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Orioles secure 101 wins for the season, marking their first time surpassing 100 wins since 1980. Unfortunately, they were defeated by the Texas Rangers in a sweep during the ALDS.
