Head-On Collision Claims Life in Forest Hill

A fatal crash occurred in Forest Hill, Maryland, this morning, which is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Police. The incident took place at around 10:30 a.m., when troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision on MD Rt. 23 (East West Highway) near the Morse Road bridge.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a Hyundai Accent, while traveling east on Rt. 23, attempted to pass multiple vehicles in a passing zone. Meanwhile, a Nissan work van traveling west on Rt. 23 collided head-on with the Hyundai.

Sadly, the female driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver of the Nissan van was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview for treatment. The road closure lasted for approximately three hours, and the identity of the deceased driver is being withheld until family notification.

Bel Air, Maryland is eagerly anticipating its upcoming 150th anniversary celebration. Originally designated as the Harford County seat in 1782, Bel Air has transformed from a small hamlet into a bustling town of over 10,000 residents.

It has become a center for commerce, government, healthcare, dining, and cultural arts. The town's incorporation as an independent municipality in April 1874 is a significant milestone that will be celebrated throughout 2024. The 150th Anniversary committee, comprised of town staff and citizens, is planning various commemorative events for next year, including the "Then and Now" celebration at the Bel Air Armory on April 27, 2024.

Booth applications for the event are currently being accepted until November 1, 2023, and historical memorabilia can be displayed pending committee review. For more information, contact the committee chair, Town Events Manager Julia Potler at [email protected].

Baltimore Ravens vs. Seattle Seahawks Sunday @ 1:00pm

Baltimore Ravens Quiet at Trade Deadline, Prioritize Current Roster

The Baltimore Ravens had a quiet trade deadline in 2023, unlike previous years where they made blockbuster moves. Their division rivals, the Washington Commanders, made significant trades to rebuild their team, but the Ravens chose to stick with their current roster.

General manager Eric DeCosta explored some potential deals, such as pursuing Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, but ultimately didn't find the right fit. The Ravens prioritized their future draft capital and value their current players, with head coach John Harbaugh expressing confidence in their roster.

Despite concerns in the secondary and pass rush, the Ravens believe they have everything they need to succeed. The team's salary cap struggles and the need to retain key players also limited their options for trade acquisitions. The Ravens are banking on their existing roster to continue improving and achieving success.
