Harford County Celebrates Victory in Drinking Water Taste Test

The Harford County Department of Public Works in Maryland has been recognized for producing the best drinking water at its Abingdon Water Treatment Plant. The water received the Best in Show award at the American Water Works Association's regional taste test challenge. A panel of judges evaluated the flavor characteristics of each water sample to determine the winners.

The competition was divided into two categories: surface water treatment and groundwater treatment. The Abingdon Water Treatment Plant emerged as the winner in the surface water treatment category, surpassing seven other competitors. It then went head-to-head with the City of Salisbury, the winner in the groundwater treatment category, for the Best in Show title.

The Perryman Water Treatment Plant, also run by Harford County, secured the second place spot in the groundwater treatment category, making it a close contender for the top prize against the Abingdon plant.

As a result of this achievement, the Abingdon Water Treatment Plant has qualified to participate in the American Water Works Association's national competition in June 2024, which will take place in Anaheim, California.

County Executive Bob Cassilly expressed his pride in the dedicated teams that ensure the delivery of high-quality drinking water to customers. He applauded their success and wished them well in the national competition.

Ravens Fans Prepare for a Clash of Division Leaders as Baltimore Takes on Detroit

The Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for a highly anticipated matchup against the Detroit Lions this week. Ravens fans vividly remember the last time these two teams faced off, when Lions kicker Justin Tucker crushed their hopes with a game-winning 66-yard field goal. Now, the Ravens have an opportunity for revenge as they face the Lions, who have emerged as one of the top teams in the NFL.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell knows the significance of this game and the growth his team has undergone since that heartbreaking defeat. Despite facing a challenging 2021 season, the Lions have persevered, winning 13 of their last 16 games. Now, as a division leader, the Lions are tied for the best record in the league with four other teams.

For the Ravens, this will be their first home game in four weeks. Ravens fans are excited to have their team back on their home turf, especially given Tucker's impressive history at Detroit's Ford Field. Tucker has a knack for delivering clutch field goals against the Lions, including a record-breaking 66-yard kick in their last meeting.

One key matchup to watch will be the battle between the Lions' offensive line and the Ravens' dominant pass rush. While Detroit has only allowed 10 sacks this season, the Ravens boast an impressive 24 sacks, tied for the most in the league. The outcome of this matchup could heavily influence the game's outcome.

Ravens fans also know the value of having Tucker as their kicker. Last week, Tucker kicked six field goals in the Ravens' win over the Tennessee Titans in London. Although the Ravens' offense has struggled to find the end zone lately, Tucker's accuracy and reliability provide them with a valuable weapon in close, low-scoring games.

As the Lions enter unfamiliar territory with their best start in 12 years, Ravens fans recognize the challenges they pose. The Lions have exceeded expectations and are determined to make a push for the playoffs after narrowly missing out last season. Ravens fans are eager to welcome the Lions to Baltimore but demand that they prove their worth on the field.

Both teams have demonstrated impressive starts to their games this season. The Ravens have outscored their opponents 41-6 in the first quarter, while the Lions have a similar advantage, outscoring their opponents 48-10 in the opening quarter. The ability to start strong will prove crucial for both teams in this exciting matchup.

Finally, Ravens fans are aware of the young standout players on both sides. Ravens receiver Zay Flowers and Lions tight end Sam LaPorta have been making significant contributions to their respective teams. Flowers ranks second in receptions and yards receiving among rookies, while LaPorta sits in third place in both categories. Their performances could heavily impact the outcome of the game.
