Major Delays Expected on MD 542 due to Resurfacing Project
Maryland State Highway Administration to Begin Major Resurfacing Project on Loch Raven Boulevard
The Maryland State Highway Administration has announced that a resurfacing project on MD 542, also known as Loch Raven Boulevard, will begin on October 20. The $110,000 project is expected to be completed by early November, weather permitting. However, motorists should be prepared for major delays and single-lane closures during this time.
Starting from Friday night, contractor crews will work throughout the weekends, resulting in continuous single-lane closures on Loch Raven Boulevard from 8 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday. This will involve removing old concrete, pouring, setting, and testing new concrete between Joppa Road and Cromwell Bridge Road.
The State Highway Administration has outlined the following weekend lane closures:
- October 20-23: 8 p.m. Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday morning
- October 27-30: 8 p.m. Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday morning
- November 3-6: 8 p.m. Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday morning
To ensure the safety of drivers, temporary traffic signs will be used by the contractor, Gray and Son, Inc., to guide vehicles through the work zone and detour routes for the interchange ramps. In case of inclement weather, postponed projects will be rescheduled for the following weekend.
For additional information, residents can contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office – Construction Division. They can also access information on all major State Highway Administration projects on their website.

Klein's ShopRite store in Belcamp unveils new produce area and updated decor
Klein's Family Markets has reopened its ShopRite store in Belcamp following a remodel. The updated store features an expanded produce area, improved sections for dairy and frozen foods, new displays, redesigned aisles, and updated decor.
The Klein Family celebrated the reopening by making charitable donations to various organizations, including the Maryland Food Bank. This donation is part of ShopRite's annual contribution to the Partners in Caring initiative.
